EVENTS4FOUNDERS · UPDATED 13 OCTOBER 2026

Your privacy.

How Events4Founders uses information when you browse, create an account, subscribe to a newsletter or share an event.

Who is responsible

Events4Founders operates events4founders.com and is responsible for the personal information described here. For privacy questions, corrections or requests about your information, contact communitymanager@events4founders.com.

What we collect and why

InformationPurpose and legal basis
Your account identifier, name, verified email address and sign-in detailsTo create and secure your account and provide the service you request (performance of our agreement). Preventing fraud and misuse is also in our legitimate interests.
Your selected home city, optional organisation and terms acceptance recordTo personalise your starting calendar, manage your profile and record the agreement (performance of our agreement and our legitimate interest in maintaining reliable records).
Event details, submission and review history, and account correspondenceTo review, publish, update and moderate listings, resolve queries and send review decisions (performance of our agreement and our legitimate interests in running a useful, accurate calendar).
Newsletter first name, surname, email address, chosen city, subscription status and consent/confirmation recordsTo send and personalise the city newsletter you request, including clearly labelled sponsorship (your consent). Confirmation links verify the address before subscription becomes active. A separate newsletter signup does not create a member account.
Optional usage statistics: random browser and visit identifiers, page paths, event views, outbound signup clicks, referring website or campaign source, and timestampsTo understand use of the calendar and improve it (your consent). We do not attach your account name or email to these analytics records.
Technical connection and security information, such as IP address, browser information and service logs processed by our providersTo deliver and protect the website, troubleshoot failures and prevent abuse (our legitimate interests and, where applicable, legal obligations).

You can browse without an account. We need account information to offer member features. A home city is a preference you select; we do not request precise device location. You can change it in Account, or browse another city without changing it.

Newsletter subscriptions

Newsletter signup is optional and separate from account registration and analytics consent. We ask for your first name, surname, email and city, send a confirmation email and only activate your subscription after you confirm. Newsletter emails may include clearly labelled sponsorship. Sponsors do not receive your subscriber details. Use the unsubscribe link in your confirmation email or newsletter, or contact us to update your details or unsubscribe.

Confirmation links expire after 24 hours. Unconfirmed requests older than 30 days are removed when new newsletter requests are processed. On unsubscribe we clear your name and city and retain your email address and subscription/consent record to honour your choice. Short-lived, hashed request counters help prevent misuse of the email form; they are removed after expiry as further requests arrive.

Where information comes from

We receive information from you, from our sign-in provider and, if you choose social sign-in, the identity provider you authorise. Event information may also come from public organiser pages or authorised submitters. We do not ask for attendee lists, payment-card details or sensitive personal information.

What becomes public

Approved event titles, organiser names, descriptions, venues, dates, prices and signup links are public. Do not put private attendee details or personal contact information you do not want published in a listing. Your account email and home-city preference are not displayed on the public calendar. Reviewers can see your submission and organiser profile.

Service providers and other recipients

We use Clerk for authentication, Vercel for hosting, Neon for our application database and Resend for review-decision and newsletter confirmation emails, and newsletter delivery when launched. Our site administrators and providers access information as needed to run and protect the service. We may disclose information when legally required or to establish or defend legal claims. We do not sell your personal information.

Provider infrastructure and support may involve processing outside your country, including outside the UK and EEA. Applicable protection depends on the provider, destination and processing arrangement, and may include adequacy decisions and contractual transfer safeguards. Contact us for details of the arrangements relevant to your information.

Cookies and optional analytics

Essential sign-in and security technologies support the service you request. Optional analytics starts only after you accept it. Declining it does not prevent browsing or registering. Our analytics records do not include names, email addresses or IP addresses, although infrastructure providers process technical connection information separately. See our cookie policy for storage, duration and controls. Use to change your choice.

How long we keep information

We keep account and profile information while your account is active. After an account closure request, we review what can be deleted and what must be retained to resolve disputes, prevent abuse or meet legal obligations. Event and moderation records are retained while they are needed to operate the calendar and manage submissions, with continued retention reviewed on a deletion request or when the records are no longer useful. Public event descriptions may remain as historical listings; contact us about removing personal information.

Our analytics browser identifier expires after 90 days. Analytics records older than 90 days are removed when new analytics activity is collected; removal may be later if no new activity is received. Your cookie choice is remembered for 180 days. Service providers may keep operational logs and backups under their own retention arrangements. Contact us for the retention details relevant to a specific request.

Your choices and rights

Depending on the law that applies, you can request access, correction, deletion, restriction or a portable copy of your personal information, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. You may withdraw analytics consent at any time; that stops future analytics collection and removes the analytics identifiers from this browser. It does not make earlier processing unlawful. Contact communitymanager@events4founders.com to exercise your rights or close your account. We may need to verify your identity and will respond within the applicable legal time limits, normally one month.

You can complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office or your local data protection authority. We would welcome the opportunity to address your concern first, but you do not have to contact us before complaining.

External events and messages

Tickets, attendance registration, payments and refunds are handled by the organiser or their chosen platform. Their terms and privacy notices apply when you follow a link. Creating an Events4Founders member account does not subscribe you to marketing emails. Newsletter signup is a separate choice requiring email confirmation. We send service communications, such as sign-in and review-decision messages, when needed.

Children, decisions and changes

The service is intended for adult founders and professional communities, not children. We do not make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects solely through automated processing. Listings are reviewed before publication. We may update this policy as the service changes and will display the revision date and highlight material changes where appropriate.
